This work has leveraged a variety of technologies and emerging data resources such as electronic health records. The Tissue Injury Branch consists of the Brain Injury Unit, which examines the risks for neurological and behavioral symptoms following traumatic brain injuries (TBIs) and concussions through blood-based biomarkers. These data are then captured electronically for quantification and comparison to later reports of pain. Qualitative nursing research helps us understand the complexity and many facets of a problem and gives us insights as we encourage others’ voices and searches for meaning. The Center is led by NINR but is a collaboration across the National Institutes of Health. This work has the potential to improve the palliative and end-of-life care provided to millions of older Americans in nursing homes and enable future pragmatic trials in this setting. The campaign emphasizes that palliative care works along with other treatments to enhance quality of life for children of any age living with a broad range of serious illnesses. The 2014 IOM report, Dying in America: Improving Quality and Honoring Individual Preferences Near the End of Life, and the current 2018 National Academies of Sciences Roundtable on Quality Care for People with Serious Illness, further reiterated the importance of end-of-life and palliative care science. The sensors alert nurse-care coordinators and clinicians to alterations in a patient’s health before the appearance of clinical signs—knowledge that can help promote independent living for older adults. All NINR Research Centers support the development of research infrastructures and centralized resources for independent nursing research programs. The campaign is initiated to raise awareness of and improve communication about pediatric palliative care. NINR is committed to developing the next generation of nurse scientists and provides research training through several fellowships and training programs. The study underscores the potential risks to patients of cuts in nurse staffing levels and suggests that an increased emphasis on bachelor’s level education for nurses can reduce hospital deaths. This intensive 16-month program includes all the elements of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing program, plus additional graduate courses. This research also seeks to define methodologies for AR/VR technology as a health tool to aid disease-management nursing strategies in the transition from acute care settings to outpatient environments. intervention becomes the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's model curriculum. The workshop’s seven modules are geared to pre- and post-doctoral students and early-career nurse scientists. NINR, as part of this initiative, is supporting several research projects that explore the mechanisms underlying stress and immune function biomarkers in response to music therapy within the context of palliative care for individuals with advanced cancer and their families.
